Wolf Adoption Program

By symbolically adopting one of the 250 Algonquin wolves found in the wild today, you will be helping CPAWS Ottawa Valley advocate for Algonquin wolves. In particular, you will help us in our work to establish new protected areas in both Ontario and Quebec - areas where the hunting and trapping of wolves will be prohibited.

Overview

Thank for supporting the conservation of Algonquin wolves! There are an estimated 250 Algonquin wolves remaining in the wild today. Their population is clustered around Algonquin Park and other parts of central Ontario. The species is also found in western Quebec. The Dumoine, Noire and Coulonge watersheds being prime habitat for this iconic symbol of the wild.

You will also help us continue our work to see important connections across the landscape maintained, restored and protected to enable the movement of iconic species like wolves, moose and bear to roam. Finally, we will work to ensure that wolves are also protected outside of parks. Right now, wolves may be hunted and trapped virtually anywhere and at anytime, except inside parks. We feel this is unacceptable. Please help us protect this vital keystone species.
