December 2 - Aylmer Santa Clause Parade

  • Join CPAWS-OV at Noël dans le Vieux-Aylmer / Christmas in Old-Aylmer for Aylmer's annual Christmas Parade! The parade will begin at Front Street and end at Les Galleries Aylmer. The parade run from 6:00pm-7:00pm on Saturday December 2

    December 9 - 2018 Calendar Launch and Holiday Party

  • Location: Clocktower Brew Pub (575 Bank St, Ottawa, ON) Ottawa, Ontario
  • Join CPAWS-OV for our 2018 Calendar Launch and Holiday Party! Come on out and drop by the Clocktower Brew Pub (575 Bank St) anytime between 1:00-4:00pm to buy a calendar, learn more about CPAWS and a fun, festive atmosphere.

    The calendar features beautiful photographs of Gatineau Park taken by local artists, and helps us raise funds to support our Make it a Real Park campaign, which calls for legislated ecological protection of the park. 

    We also would like to take the opportunity this holiday season to say thank you to our many volunteers, and recognize their work over this past year.

    Admission is free!

    Come meet the photographers, chat with CPAWS-OV Board Members and staff about our conservation work, and learn more about how you can help us secure protected wilderness areas in Canada.

    December 9 - Arts and Crafts Market

  • Join CPAWS-OV for a Christmas Market at Christ Church Aylmer (101 Symmes) for beautiful crafts, homemade baking and a fun, festive atmosphere. We will have an information booth and selling our amazing 2018 Gatineau Park Calendars, and our make it a real park t-shirts! Join us on SaturdayDecember 9 from 9:00am-2:00pm to learn more about CPAWS-OV, conservation in eastern Ontario and western Quebec and do some Christmas shopping!

    December 11 - Cafe Scientifique -  Canada’s commitment to protecting 17% of land by 2020.

  • Location: Fox and Feather Pub and Grill (283 Elgin, Ottawa Ontario) Ottawa, Ontario
  • Our Cafe Scientifique is an informal gathering of people to discuss current science, conservation and environmental issues that affect our communities. On the second Monday of each month, we will discuss a different topic related to biology, conservation, wilderness and our place in the environment.

    This Monday, December 11, 2017, Nik Lopoukhine will be discussing the federal government's committment to protecting 17% of Canada's land by 2020. Nik has extensive experience working to protect Canada's wilderness and has recieved numerous national and international awards for his professional and volunteer work. Nik worked at Parks Canada for twenty four years, including as Director General of National Parks. On retiring in 2005, he continued his work protecting nature with IUCN, represented Canada at the Canadian Biodiversity Convention, is on CPAWS-OV's board and continues to advise and promote protected areas. Since 2012, he has served as advisor to the Auditor General of Quebec, as advisor to the Auditor General of Canada and advisor to the Canadian Senate.

    As a member of the National Advisory Panel, Nik works to create recommendations to achieve Canada's goal to protect 17% of land by 2020 through a coordinated and connected network of protected and conservation areas throught the country that could serve as the cornerstone for biodiversity conservation for generations to come.
