CPAWS Ottawa Valley thanks Muriel How for her years of dedication
Muriel How was the Chair of the CPAWS Ottawa Valley Gatineau Park Committee from 2004 -2011. She was instrumental in reviving the work of a high-profile committee that had not been active for many years. Her knowledge of the area and her comprehension of the perplexing land-use issues was of great value. As a popular and outspoken resident of the Municipality of Chelsea, Muriel has many contacts in the local communities. She was an active member of the CPAWS-OV board, and has constantly volunteered to help at a great many events. One of her favourite goals was to encourage CPAWS staff and volunteers to take public speaking seriously and to work on communications skills. Muriel was able to maintain her strong-willed, yet professional, communications with the National Capital Commission and many other groups. No one ever claimed they misunderstood her purpose!
The work of the CPAWS Ottawa Valley Gatineau Park Committee will continue with Doug Anions as the new chair. Doug was recruited early on by Muriel, and he has her to thank for laying a solid foundation and commitment to protect Gatineau Park for future generations. We are optimistic that Muriel will continue to provide advice that will ultimately lead to substantial successes in the future.
CPAWS-OV thanks Muriel for all her hard work and accomplishments on our behalf.
