2013: A year in Gatineau Park Photo Contest

Located mere minutes from downtown Parliament Hill, Gatineau Park offers unparalleled scenery, a host of recreational activities and contains some of the most biodiverse landscapes in southern Quebec, yet it is a “park” in name only. Unlike Canada’s national and provincial parks, no real legislation is in place to ensure that the park is maintained for future generations. Help CPAWS Ottawa Valley do something about it!

Since 1969, CPAWS has been working to protect the park through legislation and improved management practices. While we have seen many successes, much remains to be done to ensure that our children can benefit from all the park has to offer. This is where you come in!
In an effort to raise funds for the ongoing campaign to protect the park, we are releasing a fundraising calendar for 2013 featuring your best shots of the park.
Two photos from each of the following six categories will be featured in the 2013 “A year in Gatineau Park” calendar. One more picture, drawn from all submissions will be selected for the cover.

  • What I like about the living museum (youth category – under 16 years of age only);
  • The picturesque Meech Creek Valley
  • Winter in the park
  • Ribbons of life, photos of the lakes, streams and of their shorelines
  • Heritage features of Gatineau Park
  • The impressive Eardley Escarpment

One image from among all those submitted will be featured on the cover of the calendar and others may be used to illustrate other parts of the calendar, if need be.

The categories are open to your interpretation and artistic license. For example, there is no category dedicated exclusively to wildlife, but wildlife may be featured in any of the above categories. Please feel free to contact us for clarification if you are unsure of how to categorize your pictures.
