Ways to Help
We couldn’t do what we do without your help. Whether it’s taking action on a campaign by signing a petition or writing a letter, donating to our work, or volunteering your time, your support matters.
Here are the ways you can help:
Take action on a campaign
CPAWS works on Canada’s public lands and waters. 90% of land and freshwater, and 100% of the ocean are in the public domain, meaning they belong to all Canadians and are stewarded by governments on our behalf. By taking action on a campaign, you are asserting your right to have a say about what decisions are made on our public lands and waters.
Donate
Your financial support makes our work possible… and we make it go a long way. CPAWS spends over 70% of each dollar on conservation and education. When you make a donation of $20 or more, you will receive the following benefits for one year:
- A tax receipt
- Two issues per year of our information-packed national newsletter, Canadian Wilderness
- CPAWS Annual Report
- Information from your local CPAWS chapter (the one located closest to your mailing address within your province or territory)
You may opt out of receiving any of these benefits by informing the CPAWS office at 1-800-333-WILD at any time.
Volunteer
Want to be more involved in our work? Volunteer your times and talents to help us protect more of Canada’s wilderness.
Use your skills and passion to protect Ottawa Valley’s wild spaces
Volunteering with CPAWS Ottawa Valley means you’re playing a critical role in:
● Halting and reversing nature loss
● Climate action for current and future generations
● Protecting wild spaces species at risk depend on to survive
● Providing communities with clean air to breathe and freshwater to drink
Volunteering can also give you real-world experience employers are looking for, give you networking opportunities with other passionate nature enthusiasts, and teach you about Ottawa Valley’s wilderness.
We are regularly looking for volunteers in the following areas:
● Translation of short texts from English to French, such as blogs or social media posts
● Community outreach, including attending in-person fairs and local events to spread the word about our work and help get petitions signed
● Event support, such as attending art exhibitions and fundraisers to help at registration tables
● Research and data entry
If you’re interested in making a positive difference in your community, contact us at ov-outreach@cpaws.org to volunteer today.
