Workplace Parks Day Celebration – July 17th
CPAWS-OV is pleased to invite our business and organization supporters to join us for some fun in celebration of Parks Day on Friday, July 17th!
What is Parks Day?
Parks Day is a national celebration of all types of public parks; whether national, provincial, or local. It recognizes the vital role parks play in maintaining healthy and resilient ecosystems, protecting critical habitat for species-at-risk and contributing to human health and well-being.
Why participate in CPAWS-OV Workplace Parks Day?
These past months have been a challenge for all of us and it’s clear we’re ready to leave behind the chaos and stress and get out into nature for some peace and fun. Officially, Parks Day is celebrated nation-wide on Saturday July 18th, but we thought this year would be a great time to offer workplaces the opportunity to join in.
It’s a great way for employers to not only show support for the environment and biodiversity but also to recognize the strain that staff have been under and encourage some stress management while keeping the day productive.
What’s involved
- First, we ask your staff to wear green in support of nature.
- Where possible, we hope you will encourage staff to work outside for part of the day by either setting up their laptop in their backyard or local park, or by holding a small team lunch meeting outdoors (3 people max) where social distancing can be maintained.
- Share your participation with a pin on our Parks Day Map at your work address. You can include a photo of your team wearing green on Zoom or at their small team meetings and tell us what you did to celebrate nature! You and your team will also get to see what other workplaces and individuals did to celebrate Parks Day.
- Employees will be encouraged to purchase an official registration for $5 (optional). Any corporate gifts, perhaps matching employee donations, will also be gratefully accepted. All proceeds will go directly towards our programs working to protect the region’s most important wilderness spaces.
We provide all the tools necessary!
CPAWS-OV will provide you with email and social media templates that you can use to promote the event internally and externally, to engage employees, and publicly demonstrate your support for the environment.
How to participate
Simply email “We’re in!” to Sabrina Howe at showe@cpaws.org and let us know who we will be coordinating your participation with. She will be in contact with that person within 2 working days to get the ball rolling.
We look forward to celebrating Parks Day in the workplace with you!
