This Thanksgiving Sunday, Give Thanks to Nature with CPAWS-OV
Join local environmental non-profit in creating a new tradition
Gatineau, September 23 – Join the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – Ottawa Valley Chapter (CPAWS-OV) Sunday, October 10, in giving Thanks to Nature by joining them in four parks across Ottawa and Gatineau: Fletcher Wildlife Garden, Lac-Beauchamp Park, Parc national de Plaisance, and Petrie Island.
Thanks to Nature is an annual event inviting people to disconnect from their screens, take a break from their hectic lives, have an adventure, and reconnect with the wild.
“As little as 10 minutes in a natural setting has been scientifically proven to lower stress levels and boost happiness,” said John McDonnell, CPAWS-OV Executive Director. “Now more than ever, our community needs to slow down, take a break, and reconnect with the outdoors.”
CPAWS-OV team members will be at the four parks from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. October 10 to lead visitors through fun activities, walks, and answer your questions about protecting Ottawa Valley’s wilderness.
“For the past 18 months, climate and pandemic news has pushed nature to the forefront of our thinking for the vital role it plays in our lives,” said McDonnell. “CPAWS-OV is excited to welcome people at Fletcher Wildlife Garden, Lac-Beauchamp Park, Parc national de Plaisance, and Petrie Island and help them reconnect with nature.”
If you can’t make it on October 10, you can still give Thanks to Nature by texting NATURE to 30333 to donate $10 to CPAWS-OV to help further conservation work across our community.
You can also participate in the event by volunteering at one of the four parks.
